Each school by law has to have a Governing Body. It oversees the welfare and development of Acacia Children’s Centre. The Governing Body is made up of local authority representatives, elected parent and staff representatives, co-opted members and the head teacher. Acacia Governing Body meets at least once a term.
The Governing Body has a close working relationship with the head teacher and staff. In order to improve their knowledge and understanding of matters to do with the school and childcare governors take advantage of training courses provided by the local authority. Governors also spend time in the Centre getting to know staff and understand the work that is going on.
The Governing Body by its make up represents many sides of the community and their experience is a valuable addition to the work of Acacia Children’s Centre.
